On 11th of February 2016, the ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Lebanese Republic, Aghasalim Shukurov met with Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri.

During a visit the ambassador introduced a letter of invitation to Nabih Berri issued by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Ogtay Asadov highlighting the offer to pay an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Afterwards, the ambassador expressed his desire for establishing the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lebanese Republic and the embassy of the Lebanese Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan on developing relations between the two countries.

Nabih Berri, with assurance stated that creation of the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Lebanese Republic will assist on progress of cooperation between the countries.

The meetings appear aimed at briefing Nabih Berri on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict where 20% of the territories of Azerbaijan have been occupied and more than one million refugees have been displaced in the consequence of Armenian brutality.
